As Gille Deleuze says, a head belonges to the body, but a face does not, and eaven a human head is not necessesserily a face. “The face is produced only when the head ceases to be part of the body”. Heads can not smile, only faces can. Anu Suhonen plays on this by misusing beauty technology and making it force a smile on a face with the aid of small electric impulses, echoeing Deleuze´s contention that “there is even something absolutely inhumain about the face.
